The troy ounce (oz) is a unit of imperial measure. In the present day, it is most commonly used to scale the mass of precious metals. One troy ounce is currently defined as exactly 0.0311034768 kg or 31.1034768 g.
There are 32.151 troy ounces in a kilogram.
The spot price is the current trading price of the metal as listed on the metals exchanges, which we use as an indicator for our pricing. The spot price does not reflect the costs associated with barring, transportation etc. when sold to the investor.
Investment grade physical gold bar or coin, bullion must be at least 99.99% pure. For silver, the minimum purity is 99.9%. All bullion products sold by Melbourne Mint meet investment grade standards.
The difference between our sale and our buy back price is called a ‘spread’. The spread allows for different trading and handling costs associated with us selling and buying precious metals. Like any trader, we make a small margin on sales of bullion, and we make a small margin on the bullion we buy back.
Selling can be done in our offices by bringing in your physical bullion. Please allow time for stock to be tested. You will be issued a buy back price and if you agree to the price you can nominate a preferred method of payment. Melbourne Mint will make payment to your designated bank account with funds received within 2 to 3 business days.
Yes, any products purchased through Melbourne Mint can be collected from our Melbourne office. Alternatively, we can arrange to have the bullion delivered to you.
